Location and Directions

Recommended route by road: Johannesburg - Thornybush Game Reserve Approximately 550km (+/-) Half a day by road. N4 east to Belfast. R540 to Lydenburg (via Dullstroom). R36 to Orighstad, and J.G. Strijdom Tunnel. Proceed through J.G. Strijdom Tunnel towards Hoedspruit. R527 to and through Hoedspruit and turn right at the 2nd 4-way stop. R40, after 6km turn left towards and past Eastgate Airport. After 17km turn right onto Guernsey Road (gravel road starts). After 9km turn left into the Thornybush Game Reserve main gate. Report as Guests of Monwana Lodge to the Gate Guard. Follow the signs to Thornybush Game Reserves main lodge. Our Ranger will collect you from the main lodge. Please drive carefully.
